Foods to Avoid:
Just as rigorous as the first diet on this program had been, the second part had its challenges as well. After the first six months (when Ed had completely stopped eating any foods except the few that I mentioned earlier, i.e., the “smoothie,” raw carrots, raw salads, and nuts), he began what Dr. Wu referred to as “a maintenance diet.”
That first six months of totally raw foods had been required for cell regeneration as the strengthened immune system attacked and wiped out the cancer cells and toxins. The next six to nine months of the maintenance diet were to avoid ingesting any more toxins. But, as we were to learn, Dr. Wu recommends that these foods on the maintenance diet should be avoided by anyone who wants to stay healthy. In other words, more or less permanently. What then are the foods to avoid?
In Dr. Wu’s own words,
- “Stay away from all fried, deep-fried, stir-fried, grilled, baked, or broiled foods.
- Don’t touch any foods made from either whole or refined flour: bread, pasta, noodles, cakes cookies, pancakes, waffles, etc.
- Never go near cow dairies: milk, cheese, butter, ice cream, yogurt, pizza, chocolate, and also margarine.
- Never eat any animal protein fed with growth hormones.”
The above quote by Dr. Wu is taken from his recently published (2014) first book translated into English: Dr. Tom Wu’s Different Approach in Natural Healing: Conquer Cancer and Other Diseases with Simple Foods. In this book, he clearly explains the reasons why these particular foods should be avoided. In addition, he gives 28 different “smoothie” recipes for other specific illnesses and physical conditions, much more information than can be summarized here in this short blog about surviving lung cancer in particular.
Also, in his book, Dr. Wu recommends a number of supplements to further strengthen the immune system. Next time I’ll list the specific ones that Ed took each day.
